India to host Miss World after 27 years

The anticipation is palpable as the prestigious Miss World pageant draws closer, set to unfold after 27 years in India, with its rich tapestry of history, culture, and diversity, India provides an exquisite backdrop for this global celebration of beauty, intellect, and compassion. 

While India has a rich legacy of producing remarkable beauty queens from the trailblazing Reita Faria in 1966 to the globally renowned Priyanka Chopra in 2000, these former Miss Worlds from India have not only adorned crowns but have also become icons of empowerment. 

Reita Faria was the first Asian to be crowned Miss World.

Reita was chosen to represent India at the Miss World contest, becoming the second Indian woman to do so.

A team of archaeologists from the University College of London, led by Letty Ingrey, discovered a set of around 800 Acheulean stone tools that are around 300,000 years old. They were found buried in the sediments of an ancient river channel located in the Medway Valley in England. The excavations took place in Kent, which revealed 800 prehistoric artifacts in deep ice age sediments preserved on a hillside above Medway Valley. These artifacts are said to be 300,000 years old.
